The standards for morality as given in the Ten Commandments should be the guide for every man, proclaimed Mr. Raymond Cyrus Hoiles in a speech in the Forum Friday, Nov. 10. "You know the truth, and the truth shall set you free,” said the 88-year-old publisher of the Santa Ana Register and other Freedom newspapers, before a large crowd of students and faculty.
Hoiles sardonically suggested that Socrates might have been more successful with the Greeks if he had developed some new machine instead of trying to teach them to look inside themselves.
Good business practice demands high morals on the part of the people; morals and economics cannot be separated, Hoiles continued. According to Hoiles, every person must profit in any transaction; tax payers do not profit in any way by paying taxes.
“The government cannot give you any rights,” he stated. In referring to taxation by the government, he concluded that tax supported schools and colleges cannot be moral because they are supported by "stolen money."
Hoiles said that he also believes that tax supported schools are inefficient, that the text books used are worthless, and that we must rid ourselves of “government schools."
